Privacy Policy
Who we are
TankWise ("we", "us") is an educational website about freshwater aquarium keeping, operated by its publisher. Contact: via the contact page.
What we collect — and what we don't
- We do not require accounts and we do not ask for your name, address, or payment details anywhere on this site.
- Our calculators run entirely in your browser. The fish, tank sizes and numbers you enter are never sent to us or stored anywhere.
- Server logs: like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard technical information (IP address, browser type, pages visited, time of visit) for security and operational purposes.
- Email: if you write to us, we keep your message to reply and for our records of corrections and feedback.
Cookies and advertising
This site is supported by advertising, including Google AdSense. That means:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of many third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices (or, in the EU, youronlinechoices.eu).
- We do not sell personal information, and we do not pass personally identifiable information to advertisers.
Where required (for example, for visitors in the European Economic Area and the UK), we will request consent for personalised advertising cookies through a consent notice before such cookies are set.
Analytics
If we use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which guides are useful, it is limited to aggregate information such as pages viewed and approximate region. We do not build individual profiles of visitors.
Children
This site is written for adults setting up aquariums and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you (for most visitors this is limited to emails you have sent us and standard server logs). Contact us via the contact page to make a request, and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and note the new effective date at the top.
